Jefferson County Greenways is a dynamic public-private partnership dedicated to preserving three of the region's treasured natural areas: Red Mountain Park, Ruffner Mountain, and Turkey Creek Nature Preserve. Our mission is to preserve and care for these greenspaces as sanctuaries for our neighbors, native plants, and animals.

These greenspaces exist today thanks to the tireless efforts and unwavering support of our local community members. Today, we continue that legacy by managing and maintaining these vital areas through a strong partnership between the Jefferson County Greenways Commission and the Jefferson County Greenways Foundation.

Join a panel discussion led by Tom Spencer, Chairman of Jefferson County Greenways Commission, Mark Kelly, author of Back to Nature: A History of Birmingham's Ruffner Mountain and JCG staff to learn more about the history of our three large acreage green spaces and the formation of Jefferson County Greenways.

This program will take place in the Birmingham Public Library - Create Lab on the second floor of the Research Library. Please direct questions to Catherine Oseas at Catherine.Oseas@cobpl.org.
