Conservation

Conservation is at the heart of our mission. It involves protecting, preserving, managing, and restoring natural environments and the diverse ecosystems they support. Learn about the stewardship and impactful research we are doing and explore the amazing biodiversity of our greenspaces.

Monitoring

Protecting our greenspaces starts with understanding them. Through environmental monitoring, we track air and water quality to safeguard ecosystems, support wildlife, and help ensure a healthy environment for all.

Projects

Caring for our Greenways goes beyond maintaining trails—it’s about sustaining healthy ecosystems for native plants, wildlife, and future generations. Explore our current conservation projects and see how we’re protecting these vital landscapes.

Research

Our Greenways have many research opportunities for studying species, aspects of the ecology, and even historical or cultural elements. We often partner with other organizations and students to conduct research projects. Check out some of the many research projects that are underway.

Biodiversity

As priority conservation areas, our greenspaces support a diverse range of organisms, from endangered species like the Vermilion Darter in Turkey Creek to common species like the Southern Red Oak at Red Mountain Park. Protecting this biodiversity is essential to preserving the ecological and natural beauty of these landscapes for future generations.
