Our Community is Mourning

The Jefferson County Greenways community is mourning the tragic loss of life that occurred at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve yesterday. We want to express our deepest sympathy to the family, friends, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss.

We also want to thank the first responders and emergency personnel for their tireless efforts during the response.

Out of respect for those affected and to allow our staff time to process this tragedy, Turkey Creek Nature Preserve will be closed today, May 31, 2026. 

We respectfully ask that questions regarding the circumstances be directed to the appropriate authorities.
